Jayson is a dedicated golf coach, military veteran, and founder of Nickol Golf. With a deeply personal connection to the game and a unique coaching philosophy rooted in individuality and functional movement, Jayson has helped thousands of golfers improve their performance, both online and in person. Jayson’s journey into golf instruction began after retiring from military service in 2013. Though he loved the game from a young age, it was only after transitioning out of the Canadian Armed Forces that he truly became a student of the swing.
Following his service, he immersed himself in study and training, working under acclaimed instructors Shauheen Nakhjavani, Andrew Rice, Tony Ruggiero and studying from many more, earning certifications including Ground Force Level 1 with PGA Coach Steve Furlonger, Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Level 1, Golf Level 2 and 3, Swing Catalyst Level 1, and training in Sportsbox AI.
Beyond credentials, Jayson’s own resilience has shaped his approach. After being seriously wounded in Afghanistan in 2008 an injury that nearly cost him his leg, he rediscovered golf during recovery and went on to win a bronze medal for Canada at the 2017 Invictus Games held at St. George’s Golf & Country Club in Toronto. This personal triumph intensified his commitment to helping others, particularly veterans and first responders, embrace golf not just as a sport but as a path to confidence, movement, and joy. At Nickol Golf, Jayson teaches a modern, individualized methodology that rejects the outdated idea of a “one-size-fits-all” swing. Instead, he believes in tailoring instruction to each golfer’s physical makeup and goals, whether that’s adding distance, improving short game, or simply playing the game with more enjoyment and consistency. He has now conducted over 12,000 lessons both in-person and through virtual platforms and holds a perfect rating on the Skillest app, where students praise his clear communication, actionable insights, and fast turnaround times, in person students love the feedback between lessons to keep improving with Jayson help.
